Graduate in Veterinary Medicine from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Glasgow, UK, in 2000 and also in Parasitology (1998) by the Faculty of Sciences of the same University. During the summer holidays of 1996-1999 she participated and helped to coordinate a project of Conservation of Sea Turtles in the North of the Island of Cyprus (Glasgow University Turtle Conservation Project).

Returned to Portugal to practice in 2000 and initially opted to work with farm ainmals in the Alentejo until 2002. Since then she has been more dedicated to companion animals in the Sintra / Cascais area but always maintaining some practice with farm animals .

Married in 2002 and today the family has 7 children, 2 dogs, 2 donkeys, 2 ducks and 4 chickens. The experience gained in the University of combining an intense life of studies with extra-curricular activities (captained of the  University Female Rugby team and got selected to play for the of the Scottish Universities Side, trained and served  as a lifeguard on the beach) has been a enormous help to find a balance between work and family life.
