Euthanasia

Is it time yet?

This maybe the toughest decision an owner may have to take in relation to their pet. Yet, no matter how difficult it may be to think about, sometimes the most compassionate decision is to alleviate the pain and suffering through euthanasia.  We have listed the following questions, which you may find helpful to consider, when making your decision:

Is your pet in constant pain?
Is your pet continent, can he control his urine and faeces?
Can your pet change position, get up and move to a different palace when they want?
Can they eat and drink freely?
Does your pet appear to be happy in its day to day life?
Does your pet recognize its owner?
Does your pet have more good days than bad?

Who should make this decision?

The decision to euthanse must always to be made by the owner. If you are not sure whether it is the right decision, considering your pet's condition, you may want to talk about your feelings in relation to their wellbeing with your vet. We can advise you in relation to the progression of the disease and provide information regarding your pet's quality of life.

It is never easy but our team will try to help you to minimize the suffering and stress in a difficult time.

Mourning

There is not much we can do to help you feel better after losing a close friend but we will always be there to listen and give our support. Grief is a natural way to deal with the loss of a wonderful friend which may, at times leave us sad, angry, feeling guilty and lonely.

Despite all this we believe that mourning is an important process. We also recognize that the life your pet had by your side was definitely a great blessing and the love you gave them was the best gift they ever received
